Big Day Out

It's nearly the end of the year and the school is going on a big day out soon. One of my favourite events that happened in this school was probably the sport fests, even though I was in dodgeball and I suck at it I still had a lot of fun. I think that for this years big day out we're going somewhere that involves walking. I don't know why I think that but I just do. My previous favourite big day out was probably last years. We did different types of sports like soccer, netball, basketball and I think cricket. We also did bowling in our groups, I was in group 4 with Caitlin and some of us went to junglerama because they got bored of bowling.

College

As you all know next year all the year 8's will be heading off to college (including me) and all the year 7's will become year 8's. The feeling of going to college next year makes me nervous and it scares me a bit,  but I'm also really excited to go to college. Some things I want to try next year in college is joining a club that I'm interested in and going to the cafeteria to buy lunch with my new friends. Things I want to do next year is go to the camps or outings that the school organises, and something I want to achieve next year is to get an excellence in P.E, because I'm really bad at P.E. Things I am looking forward to in college are meeting new people and making new friends, learning new things and getting used to how college works. Some things that will be challenging for me would probably be finding my way around the college and remembering which way my classrooms are.

Book week

Last week was book week and we had different types of events going on at our school. My three favourite events that happened in book week was the visit from Kate De Goldi, the golden ticket hunt and the book character parade.

Kate De Goldi
As you probably know Kate De Goldi came to visit us and she talked about her books that she wrote and where she got some of her inspiration from for her books. The books she told us about were really interesting but I haven't gotten the chance to issue them out yet.

Golden Ticket Hunt
I really enjoyed the golden ticket hunt, especially when I found a golden ticket with Claire. The golden ticket that we found was outside room 1 where the Brigidene painting was. The clues were hard and challenging but fun and I had a lot of fun trying to work them out with my friends.

Book Character Parade
The book character parade was pretty awesome. Seeing everybody dressed up as a character from a book was quite a sight. Even all the teachers were dressed up! I had a lot of fun with my friends at the parade, everybody looked really good in their costumes.

Favourite book when I was younger

One of my favourite books when I was younger was definitely The Cat in the Hat by Dr.Seuss. The Cat in the Hat is about these two kids that have been left home alone because their mum had to go to work or something like that... and it was a rainy day so the kids couldn't do much. Then a mysterious Cat with a hat came in and made things a bit more interesting with Thing One and Thing two. I think I was about 5 or 6 years old when I read this. What I like about this book was how Dr.Seuss rhymed all the words and I also love the illustrations in the book.

AFL

AFL stands for Australian Football League, we started doing this last Thursday. It was great fun and our instructors gave us some tips on playing well. Some of the tips I remember are:
  • Laces away from laces
  • Point your toe to where you want the ball to go
  • Ring finger on the seams
  • Crosses up and down
Some new things I learned about AFL are:

  1. There are nine players on the field at one time
  2. The game will go on for 40 minutes, they will either play for two 20 minute halves or four 10 minute quarters
  3. An opposing player is not allowed to touch a player unless the player is in possession of the ball
After giving us some tips and skills on how to hold and kick the ball we played a game, that involved kicking the balls to the teachers and instructors. I didn't get any points sadly, but my kicking skill did improve.

Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time is one of my favorite TV shows. I remember when I saw the first episode, I sat there watching it until the adds came on I then ran towards my sister screaming, "CHRISTINE THERE'S A REALLY GOOD SHOW ON!!" I was really interested in it after watching the first few episodes, it's soooo gooood. The show takes place in a fictional town called Storybrooke. The people who live in Storybrooke are actually characters from different fairy tales that were transported to the "real world", and they were wiped of their real memories by a curse. There are 5 seasons and they all have about 20 episodes in each. Each season is based on different characters for example season 5 was about the characters in Frozen. I really love Once Upon a Time because all the characters are really cool and they look a lot like the characters in the fairy tales. They are all very good at acting and I love the story line and especially the plot twists.

Ideal Future Job

This week for our blog post we need to talk about our ideal future job. My ideal future job would be probably an animator or manga artists because I love drawing in my spare time or at school when I have finished all my tasks. What inspired me to become an animator or manga artist was anime... yep. The subjects I would take in college for this job is definitely art, graphics and maybe textiles and design. Some other activities I could do outside of school that would help me develop my skills would be drawing, sketching, writing, and getting some inspiration from the internet or something like that.

My question for you is what subject you like the most in school?

What I did in the holidays

As you guys know the holidays have passed and it's back to school. So this week for our blog post we have to write about something we did in the holidays.

I didn't do much in the holidays, I basically stayed home all the time on the laptop, drawing or reading. But in the second week on Monday my sister and I went swimming at Johnsonville pool. We didn't do much there, we just swam laps... 20 laps in the middle lane. Hey, at least we were being active and not lying around the whole day. Yup.

Art stuff

My favourite art piece I did for art week is the Space cover album. Inside the album is a space record that we made ourselves, my record is called "Starish Records."

One of my favourite art piece that another class did was room 8's sunset, I liked how they blended the colours and how they thought of the black shapes in the background.

Over the last few weeks I feel like I have improved on my art skills, because of all the art we did. I had a lot of fun painting and drawing with my friends and classmates. We all contributed ideas and worked together as a group and no one got left out.
